  • Description

The memorial house-museum of the Georgian poet A. Tsereteli, created in 1940, 25 years after the death of the famous writer, is located in the family estate of the family on the banks of the Chikhura River. Akaki Tsereteli is known not only in Georgia, but also in Europe thanks to his poems “Dagger", “Chonguri", “Song of Workers“ and ”Suliko".

His famous work ”My Icon is the Motherland" served as the basis for the national anthem, thanks to which he won the love and recognition of the people. The museum fund holds more than 7,000 exhibits describing the life and work of the writer, as well as antique items of his ancestors: jewelry, furniture, dishes and household items, manuscripts and personal notes of the poet.

Special attention should be paid to the family library with old Georgian, Russian and foreign books. The central element is the collection of medieval chronicles “The Life of Kartli”, dated to the beginning of the XIX century.
