A parish church of Saint George, the main church of the village. The parish here is a living one: in a village away from tourist roads that shows at once, in a tended yard and in the way the neighbours speak of the church.
Darkveti sits on the road towards Zodi, in eastern Imereti, where the hills already approach the mountains. The caveat is the same as for its neighbour: do not confuse Darkveti with Darka, a village further east that also has a Saint George holy place. The names are so alike that a navigator mistake comes easily. The century of building is not established.
Services follow the church year; dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Check the name before setting out: the mistake is an easy one.
