A church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God, a village parish in the Imeretian foothills. The feast it is dedicated to falls in early autumn and opens the church year, while in a Georgian village it coincides with the end of the harvest. The village name translates plainly: meore means second, so this is the Second Obcha, a settlement that grew beside the older one.
Both villages lie north-east of Baghdati among orchards and vineyards and read as a single cluster divided by fields. Neighbouring Obcha has two more churches of the Dormition, a lower and an upper one, so the whole area makes a short half-day circuit. The date of the building is unknown: neither a year nor the name of a builder has survived.
The church is in use, but the parish is small and there are no regular services. You can approach the church at any time; the usual rules apply, with covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women and quiet inside.
