A holy place dedicated to Kvirike and Ivlita, the Georgian forms of Cyricus and Julitta, a mother and her three-year-old son who suffered at the start of the fourth century. Georgia venerates them very widely, and the feast of Kvirikoba remains one of the liveliest popular celebrations. Churches in Zarati and Tsiaghubani carry the same dedication.
There is a divergence over status here: the place is referred to both as a male monastic house and simply as a church, and we will not choose between the variants. Sairme is known for its mineral water: the mountain resort south of Baghdati has been running for more than a century, and bottles bearing the name stand on shelves across the country. The century of foundation is not established.
Covering clothing and a headscarf for women: the rule applies at a resort as well. If you find a monastic community on site, behave as in a monastery, more quietly than usual and without photographing anyone unasked.
