The church of St. George stands in Kvemo Gvashtibi village in the north of Tskaltubo Municipality. The village also appears as Kveda Gvashtibi: both words mean lower.
The land here is hilly, at the edge of the Imeretian foothills. The village of Oragveti lies next door, and the resort town of Tskaltubo is south, down in the valley.
Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, and candles and offerings are left in their places.
