Goderdzi Alpine Garden, Adjara, Georgia

In the magical confines of Adjara, on the hills covering the southern slopes of the ridge, at an altitude of almost two kilometers above the sea, lies the Goderdzi Alpine Garden. This place, where nature seems to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration, is located near the resort of the same name, in the area known as Shkernali. The garden space, covering up to ten hectares, was recently covered with a green blanket of subalpine forests, creating unique landscapes.

Goderdzi Garden is a kaleidoscope of life, where every corner is replete with a variety of ecosystems: from rustling forests to lush meadows, from the mirror surface of lakes to mysterious swamps and rocky islands. The garden's mission is not only to showcase the beauty of native mountain plants, but also to preserve them for future generations through research, education and raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity.

Since its foundation in 2012, the garden has been going through stages of gradual development. One of the unique elements is the stone garden, which is a natural decoration of the alpine zone, where the stones seem to play a centuries-old game with nature. Not only Georgian, but also international specialists, including gardener from the Munich Botanical Garden, Helmut Wisnet, take part in the creation and care of the garden.

The floristic diversity of Goderdzi Garden is amazing: here you can find six species of trees and about a hundred species of herbaceous plants that are native to this area. Every plant here is part of a large and important mission to preserve the unique natural heritage of Georgia.
