The mosque of Gulebi village stands right by Keda. A jame, as a mosque is called in Adjara, is found in almost every sizeable village of these mountains: Muslim communities have lived here for a long time, and a village mosque is as much a part of daily life as a church in the next valley.
Keda lies in the gorge of the Adjaristsqali, on the road running from Batumi into the mountains. The village of Gulebi adjoins the town closely, and its centre is less than a kilometre away.
The usual mosque etiquette applies: shoes are taken off at the entrance, clothing is modest, women cover their heads, and the hall is not entered during prayer. Prayer times are best checked with the community.
