  • Description

The Furtio Bridge is a unique medieval stone arched bridge located in picturesque Adjara, between the villages of Zamleti and Furtio, on the Adzharistskali River. This historical monument serves as a testament to the skill and tradition of the ancient builders, demonstrating the amazing architectural solutions of that time. Over the years, the bridge has suffered the brunt of time, coming to us in a damaged state, but thanks to efforts to restore it, today it appears before visitors in all its glory.

The length of the bridge is 13.5 meters with a variable width reaching up to 2.33 meters. The height of the abutments is 3 meters, which, together with the unique recesses on the sides of the bridge, creates a unique architectural image. Despite the fact that the bridge was built without railings and other elements, its design ensures reliability and stability.

In 2006, recognizing the historical and cultural significance of the Furtio Bridge, it was officially declared an immovable cultural monument of national importance by decree of the President of Georgia. This place is not only an important part of the region's heritage, but also a wonderful reminder of the past, providing visitors with the opportunity to touch history and enjoy magnificent views of the nature of Adjara.
