Shuakhevi and Khulo
Shuakhevi and Khulo lie in the upper part of the Adjaristsqali gorge, deep in highland Adjara. People come here for the forest, the quiet and the views: near the village of Chvana, covered wooden bridges on stone piers cross the mountain streams, rivers run between the mossy boulders of Colchic forest, and higher up begin summer pastures with huts below snowy ridges. Khulo is the highest district centre in Adjara, and its main sight is the cable car: an old red cabin crosses the gorge and carries locals up to the village of Tago on the opposite slope. The gallery also shows villages wrapped in cloud, waterfalls near Tskhemlisi, a clear lake among alpine meadows and the lights of Shuakhevi on a winter night.
