Kobuleti and Around

Kobuleti is known for its long pebble beach, but the district reaches far into the mountains. On the coast at Tsikhisdziri, the walls of the Byzantine fortress of Petra stand on a hill above the sea, and next to it lies Chakvi, where the railway runs along cliffs above the beach. Higher up begin the green hills of Achkvistavi and Alambari with citrus orchards, the Chakhati and Achi gorges with Colchic forest and waterfalls, and old wooden houses on stone pillars in Khino and Didvake. The gallery also includes abandoned villas, the ruins of a mansion in Ochkhamuri and a Soviet house of culture.
