Khelvachauri and Around

The Khelvachauri district lies around Batumi, from the seashore to the mountains above the Chorokhi river. On the coast are Makhinjauri with its pebble beach, Kvariati with its clear water and the border village of Sarpi with the church and waterfall of St Andrew. Inland lie the Chorokhi valley with its reservoir, the vineyards of Chikuneti, waterfalls near Kapnistavi and Maradidi, an old mansion with galleries in Korolistavi and traditional Adjarian houses raised on stone pillars. There are unexpected finds too, such as a Soviet mosaic of dancers on a school wall.
