The church is known as the church of Ozurgeti village, although it stands two kilometres from the centre of the town of the same name: village and town have long grown together here, and the older name has stayed with the place. No dedication is named.
Ozurgeti is the administrative centre of Guria, a town on the lowland between the sea and the foothills. The church has neighbours enough: the round church of the Virgin, a rare form for the district, stands about four kilometres away, the church of the Virgin at Zarechye five and a half, a naeklesiari of the same municipality four.
The place is in town and easy to reach in any weather. The usual rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet inside. Guria is damp all year and rain is possible in any season, so an umbrella is worth taking.
