The Esadze House is an old Guria building over a century and a half old, preserved together with its setting. Inside are the furniture, the utensils, the textiles, the tools and the interior details that show how people built and lived here before modern materials arrived. Its value lies in wholeness: it was not assembled from things brought in, it simply stayed as it was.
The house stands in Kakuti, a village in the Ozurgeti municipality, by the road between Chokhatauri, Ozurgeti and Kobuleti. Around it are tea plantations, orchards and the low hills of Guria. The place works well as a stop on the way to the sea.
The house is open daily from nine in the morning until seven in the evening. Half an hour is enough. A phone number is listed and the visit is worth arranging in advance for a group.
Tips
- Call ahead if you are coming as a group
- Look at the structure of the house, the timber here is over a century and a half old
- Combine the visit with a trip to Kobuleti or Ureki
How to get there
- From Ozurgeti along the highway towards Kobuleti, about twenty minutes by car
- Roughly forty minutes from Batumi via Kobuleti
