Solemn triumph: Georgian basketball players took the top of the Tbilisi International Cup

In the sports history of Georgia, the lights of glory were lit again when the Georgian national basketball team prevailed over its rival in the exciting final of the Tbilisi International Cup. The exciting match between Georgia and Montenegro ended with the victory of the Georgian basketball players with a score of 82:78, and it became clear that the trophy was going to its native walls.

The path to victory was not easy, but the Georgian national team demonstrated its determination and skill. The first two quarters were considered spectacular, and the Georgian players were able to get ahead of the opponent, fixing the score 45:39. The main success factor was excellent shooting from the perimeter, where the basketball players made nine accurate shots.

Nevertheless, the struggle has not subsided. In the third period Montenegro showed aggressive defense, winning in attack and equalizing the score. The important moments were Bitadze's attacks and McFadden's three-point shot, which reduced the gap to two points with a loud clang.

The final part of the game was really intense. The fate of the victory was decided by three–point shots - Bitadze, McFadden and Mamukelashvili contributed to Georgia's victory in the last minutes of the fourth quarter.

The magic moment came when Mamukelashvili, who realized the most difficult three–point shot with 1:33 to the end of the game, widened the gap to seven points - 79:72. He put an end to the dispute, marking the victory of Georgia. In the closing seconds, the opponent switched to the tactic of intentional fouls, and Duda Sanadze successfully implemented four accurate strikes, securing the victory of his team.

Thus, the Georgian national team goes to the World Cup with excellent results and a powerful spirit of victory. The formed team intends to continue to conquer the sports peaks and adequately represent their country on the world stage.

Georgia faces tough tests ahead at the World Cup, where they will compete in Group F, among whose rivals will be Slovenia, Cape Verde and Venezuela. The tournament will be held in several countries, including the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, from August 25 to September 10, 2023.
