England won the European Youth Football Championship in Batumi
The England U21 youth football team managed to win the title of champions at the Euro 2023 U-21 tournament, which was held in the Adjarabet Arena in Batumi. The British demonstrated incredible playing power, winning all the matches and not conceding a single goal, which led to an impressive 10-0 goal difference.
The final match between England and Spain attracted huge attention of fans. 18,490 spectators gathered at the arena in Batumi, ready to admire the football skills of young players. From the very beginning of the match, the British showed activity and created two real scoring chances, but they lacked accuracy to open the account. Gradually, the game leveled out, and the Spaniards began to create their attacks, but towards the end of the first half it was England who managed to score a goal. In the fourth added minute after a free kick by Cole Palmer, the ball hit Curtis Jones, bringing the team a 1-0 advantage.
The second half passed without scoring goals from both sides. However, in the 6th minute added, Spain was awarded a penalty, which Ruiz failed to realize. The goalkeeper of the English team, James Trafford, demonstrated a brilliant game, reflecting not only an 11-meter shot, but also two subsequent shots in the middle of the field.
The success of the England U21 youth team was truly impressive. They showed excellent results at the tournament, winning all the matches and not conceding a single goal, which was a notable achievement with a difference of 10 goals.
The European Under-21 Championship was held from June 21 to July 8 in Georgia and Romania. As part of the tournament, matches were held in three cities of Georgia – Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi. The final match, which determined the European champion, took place on July 8 at the Batumi Arena stadium. This event became a landmark for Georgian football and confirmed its importance and progressiveness in youth football.
