The Feast of the Nativity of Christ, one of the most significant Christian holidays, is celebrated by Orthodox Georgians on Sunday. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili conveyed her congratulations to this great event, stressing that Christmas is a symbol of love and kindness.

"Merry Christmas to all Georgians and Orthodox families around the world! Today is the epitome of love and kindness. I wish your families and our country prosperity and love. I congratulate you on the feast of the Nativity of Christ," the President's message reads.

On the night of January 6-7, festive divine services in honor of the Nativity of Christ were held in all Orthodox churches of Georgia. Of course, it was a wonderful and exciting moment for believers. The church is engulfed in prayers and singing filled the air with unique melodies.

However, in addition to rich traditions, Georgia is famous for other interesting elements of celebration. For example, solemn processions known as "Alilo" are organized throughout the country on this day. During these processions, participants dressed in bright national costumes walk through the cities, singing Georgian songs of congratulations. This unique event combines a festive atmosphere with national pride and ancient traditions.

Thus, Christmas is not only a deeply religious event for the Georgian people, but also a holiday that reflects the cultural riches and national characteristics of the country. On this day, people enjoy family warmth and well-being, observing age-old customs and experiencing mutual love and compassion. Therefore, Christmas brings not only spiritual renewal, but also great joy to all Georgians.
