Mother Kartli is the symbol of Georgia
The Mother of Kartli Monument, the symbol of Georgia, towers over Tbilisi, watching over the city and the whole of Georgia in a motherly manner.
The statue was built in 1958, the year of Tbilisi's 1500th anniversary, as a temporary structure.
Mother Kartli, who has become a permanent symbol of the Georgian mentality, holds a bowl of wine in one hand, demonstrating the generosity and hospitality of the Georgian people, and a sword in the other, explicitly explaining her readiness to defend her land and her people from ill-wishers.
In a strange way, the huge female figure does not look brutal.strong, selfless and at the same time graceful and motherly caring woman like Queen Tamara, like Georgia itself.
