Significant increase in salaries of kindergarten workers in Tbilisi

In recent years, Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi, has done everything possible to improve the infrastructure and living conditions in the Georgian capital. He recently announced a large salary increase for all 11,188 employees of public kindergartens in Tbilisi. The increase will amount to 15% and will take effect from January this year.

Kindergarten workers are key figures in the upbringing and development of children, so their importance and labor intensity of work can hardly be overestimated. However, their salaries remained very low for a long time. Finally, Kaladze decided to increase it in order to recognize and support their important role in society.

Amounts starting from GEL 220 and reaching a maximum of GEL 700 were the main income of employees of state kindergartens. However, kindergarten directors received about a thousand lari, being the highest paid employees in this field.

In addition to a significant increase in salaries, Kaladze also shared interesting facts about the development of kindergarten infrastructure in the capital. Since 2017, 23 new kindergartens have been built in Tbilisi, and 11 more have been renovated. This is a significant achievement that we can be proud of.

The mayor also said that in the near future, in 2024, it is planned to open seven new kindergartens and complete the renovation of three existing ones. This will allow even more children to gain access to high-quality children's education and care.

Currently, there are 189 State kindergartens in Tbilisi, serving about 60,000 children. Kaladze noted that the infrastructure and conditions in these kindergartens meet the most modern European standards. He is proud of this achievement and promises to maintain and maintain high standards in the future.
