The mosque stands in the rural part of Marneuli Municipality and belongs to the Shia tradition. Most Muslims of Kvemo Kartli are Shia, and the arrangement of the prayer hall here follows that tradition.
Marneuli Municipality lies in the central part of the historical region of Borchaly and is populated mainly by Azerbaijanis. The nearest marked church site, the church of Kvemo Arkevani, is about nine kilometres away. Around lies a plain with fields, irrigation canals and orchards.
Women will need a headscarf. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.
