The entrance to Lagodekhi National Park is located in the town of the same name in Kakheti and serves as the starting point for hiking routes to the reserve's waterfalls and lakes. It's one of ten protected areas in the region, gathered in the guide to Kakheti's national parks and reserves. The Lagodekhi Reserve, established in 1912, is one of the oldest in the Caucasus.
The most popular route leads to Ninoskali Waterfall, about 40 metres high. The recommended approach is via the lower trail along the river (marked blue-and-white), returning via the upper trail (marked red-and-white): it's longer and steeper on the way up but easier and more even on the descent. A fit hiker takes about ninety minutes to reach the waterfall, with the return noticeably faster according to visitor accounts, though these figures depend heavily on fitness and pace.
There's parking and a drinking fountain at the entrance, along with a ranger's hut with trail maps. There are no toilets along the trails. The routes aren't suitable for strollers, small children or visitors with limited mobility: the path is rocky and narrow in places, with steep sections near the waterfall itself. Snakes and ticks are present in the park, so closed shoes and attentiveness on the trail are essential.
Entry to the park is free, and it's open around the clock.
