The most distinctive sanatorium tour in Kutaisi; definitely worth coming here for that.

I spent 5 nights in a 4-bed room. The building is lovely with high ceilings and wooden floors. There's a nice garden and a rooftop spot for watching the sunset. The volunteers were friendly and kept things clean.
However, the atmosphere felt unexpectedly cold for a hostel. The owner was polite but somewhat distant, and it lacked a social vibe—more like living with random roommates. A few interactions with the owner felt a bit passive-aggressive, which other guests noticed too.
The rooms are very basic—just mattresses in the corners, no curtains or proper storage. The kitchen is well-equipped but has many "staff only" signs, making it feel restrictive.
The biggest downside for me was the extra charges! Late checkout costs 15 gel, laundry is 30 gel, and day trips are around 90-100 gel (like to Tskaltubo, which is only a 20-minute drive and free to visit). This felt overpriced because you could easily rent a car for the same amount. The food isn't worth it either: breakfast costs 20 gel, dinner 30 gel, or 60 gel for a supra, but the quality doesn't justify the price. I tried dinner once and then went to much better and cheaper restaurants in town. Alcohol is pricey too—it's like a low-cost airline where they make money off the extras.
Also, there's a cat (which could be a problem if you're allergic), and there are cameras in most common areas, which felt a bit intimidating. After an incident mentioned in the comments, it seems the owner may have become paranoid.
Overall, it's visually decent, but the atmosphere and pricing don't match the high ratings. I would choose to stay somewhere else. - M

I stayed here for just one night, but it was a great experience in this cozy spot! We enjoyed dinner and breakfast together, which were both delicious and made us feel right at home. The place is very clean too. And you might just meet a friendly ghost! 😅

I had to message to get let in, and it took the owner 30 minutes to respond. Don't buy beer or wine here; it's way too expensive compared to grocery stores, and they don't allow you to bring your own drinks. It feels like they're trying to take advantage of tourists from budget flights. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. The owner is friendly, but I'd suggest looking for a more authentic guesthouse instead. I was visiting during the off-season, so it might be more enjoyable during the peak season in Georgia, but that shouldn't really matter.
