Sataplia Reserve lies about 10 km from Kutaisi, in Imereti. The main stops on the trail are a pavilion with fossilised dinosaur footprints (found in the 1930s), a karst cave about 300 metres long with stalactites and stalagmites, and a horseshoe-shaped glass viewing platform on top of Mount Sataplia. The platform juts out over a cliff, with views of the surrounding hills and the Colchis forest. The reserve itself is an easy walking trail of about an hour and a half, so Sataplia is often combined with the Prometheus Cave and Tskaltubo. The name comes from the Georgian word for honey ("tapli"): wild bees have long lived on the mountain.
