The Tedo House Museum is an old Imereti building preserved together with its setting: the furniture, the utensils, the textiles, the tools and the interior details. The value of a house like this is that it was not reassembled for display but left as it was. The plan and the construction show clearly how people built in western Imereti before modern materials arrived.
The house stands in Khidi, a village in the Khoni municipality, on the plain by the Tskhenistsqali river. Around it are orchards, fields and local roads. Khoni is under twenty minutes away.
The house is small and half an hour is enough. The first half of the day is the easier time, and it is better to arrange the visit through the village in advance. Combine the trip with a wider Imereti route.
Tips
- Look at the construction of the house, that is its main value
- Check the way in the village, signposts may be missing
- Come in dry weather, village roads are harder after rain
How to get there
- From Khoni along the local road, about twenty minutes by car
- Roughly forty minutes from Kutaisi via Khoni
