Where to buy souvenirs in Batumi?
Markets, the Old Town and shopping malls.
Short answer
In Batumi, souvenirs are sold in Old Town shops and on the Piazza, at boulevard kiosks, at the Central Market and in shopping malls. Spices, churchkhela and tea are cheapest at the market, while minankari jewellery and ceramics are best chosen in specialist shops. Prices are usually higher on the boulevard and in the tourist centre.
Why
- You can haggle at the market; shop prices are fixed.
- The Old Town has many small handicraft shops.
- Shopping malls are handy in the rain and in the evening.
Details
Check churchkhela quality: good ones are soft, with a thick layer of grape juice and whole nuts. Ask for a certificate or receipt for jewellery.
