Short answer
A standard Georgian plate is white with the format two letters, three digits, two letters, for example AA-123-AA, with the Georgian flag and the code GE on the left. There are no regional codes, so you cannot tell which city a car is from. Special number combinations can be bought for an extra fee at the Service Agency.
Why
- Plates are issued and registered by the Service Agency of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
- A single format without regional codes applies across the country.
- Separate transit plates are issued for cars being temporarily imported or exported.
Details
Transit plates have a different design and the word TRANSIT. Diplomatic and official vehicles have their own plate colours and formats.
