Shua Amaghleba translates as Middle Ascension, and the prefix shua, middle, in Georgian toponymy almost always means that an upper and a lower one stand nearby.
The village of Amaghleba, already described separately, confirms that logic: names here come in families, each marking its own stretch of the valley. The area lies in eastern Guria, in the Chokhatauri district, among the hills, and the church remains one of the most noticeable landmarks in the neighbourhood.
No dating has become attached to the building. The road runs through the hills and is unpaved in places. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf, and silence is kept during services.
