The house museum is devoted to Akaki Khorava, the actor whose roles in theatre and cinema defined an era of the Georgian stage. The house keeps the setting, the photographs, the playbills, the documents and the objects connected with his work. For anyone interested in the history of Georgian theatre this is a stop of its own on the Samegrelo map.
The house stands in Ochkhomuri, a village in the Chkhorotsku municipality, on the plain between Chkhorotsku and Tsalenjikha. Around it are orchards, fields and local roads. The village is quiet and the tourist flow passes it by.
The house is small and half an hour is enough. The first half of the day is the easier time, and it is better to arrange the visit through the village in advance. Combine the trip with a wider Samegrelo route.
Tips
- Combine the trip with Chkhorotsku and Tsalenjikha
- Ask about the stage roles, the core of the collection
- Check the way in the village, signposts may be missing
How to get there
- From Chkhorotsku along the local road, about fifteen minutes by car
- Roughly forty minutes from Zugdidi via Tsalenjikha
