Nino Jeladze at DGFI 2026: about 33% of 2025 FDI went to the financial sector

The National Bank of Georgia said on 2 November 2026 that Vice Governor Nino Jeladze took part in the opening of DGFI 2026, the International Conference on Digital Finance.

Representatives of the financial sector and business, international financial institutions and technology companies are discussing digital finance, innovation and international cooperation at the conference in Tbilisi.

According to Jeladze, approximately 33% of foreign direct investment in Georgia in 2025 went to the financial sector. Under the licensing framework, 3 digital banks already operate, and more than 40 Virtual Asset Service Providers, including international operators, have been registered. She also described an existing dedicated framework for initial stablecoin offerings, covering market access, reserve backing, transparency and consumer protection.

Jeladze also spoke about Georgia's investment attractiveness and its potential to become a regional financial hub.

The NBG aims to support innovation with clear regulation and effective supervision. In Jeladze's assessment, Georgian banks are expanding abroad and strengthening their positions in the region.
