MBC seeks exemption for institutional deposits from GEL 100,000 cap
MBC's founder has proposed exempting deposits from financial institutions from a GEL 100,000 limit. In an interview with BMG on 30 October, the founder named commercial banks and international financial institutions among the depositors concerned.
The microbank sector is calling for a discussion of regulatory requirements that takes account of its differences from large commercial banks. MBC's proposal represents a market participant's position. Georgia has two microbanks, Crystal and MBC.
