The US share of remittances to Georgia increased from 11% in 2019 to 20% in 2025, while Russia’s share fell from 23% to 13%. Investor.ge describes the structural shift in its review. Transfers from Russia declined from roughly $2.07 billion in 2022 to about $541 million in 2024.
The finance ministry separately estimates net transfers at around $3.2 billion for 2025, more than double the 2019 level. Under the IMF definition, net transfers represented about 9% of GDP in 2024. They reach 6–7% of households, accounting for 40–45% of those households’ monthly income. The ministry and the IMF use their own definitions of net transfers.
