Located in the Kvemo Kartli region, this natural Qvevri winery in Bolnisi is the only place producing PDO wine here. It's run by two brothers, Grami and Giorgi. Grami is full of energy, while Giorgi is calm and gentle. They make a great team. We had the chance to tour the winery and vineyard, followed by a wine tasting session. Depending on the group size, they might also serve food. The commitment to natural wine is evident from the vineyard’s appearance, with wild grass and scattered apple trees. The fresh air and views make it enjoyable to walk around. Their wine varieties include white (amber) like Rkatsiteli and Chinuri, and reds such as Saperavi and Tavkveri. Though their wine varieties are similar to those from Kakheti, Grami mentioned that the milder summer heat in Bolnisi results in a crisper finish. Located just over an hour from Tbilisi, it’s a suitable destination for a day trip, and visiting the nearby ancient Sioni Cathedral is highly recommended.
