The monastery of Largvisi was the place of work of many figures, many manuscripts were copied here.
Domed TempleIkorta it is located on the territory occupied by Russian troops, 35 km away. from the city of Tskhinvali. Not far from the temple stands the ancestral fortress of the Zristavs (rulers) Xani.

According to historical tradition, Largvisi became a city in the VI century, at the same time a temple was built ("Dzegli Eristavta" - "Eristavi Monument" of the XIV century). Largvisi was the center of the Tskhradzmishevi gorge, there was a fortress - the main obstacle on the way to the Ksani Valley. The current church on the site of the XIV century church was built in 1759 by Eristavi Ksani David. The temple has two entrances (from the west and south sides). The temple is well lit thanks to the windows. There is a shelter above the sacristy. The temple has loopholes. The structure is poorly decorated and the facing stone is poorly processed.
