Attractions of Georgia will give the tourist a lot of unforgettable emotions. One such place is the White Church of Tabatskuri, which is located on the outskirts of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, in the Borjomi municipality.
The Armenian Church, which was established in 1843, is located in the village of Tabatskuri. It is a majestic hall building with a five-step altar. The façade of the altar is decorated with pastophores symmetrically placed from it. The entire building, except for the west side, is plastered.
If you decided to visit the most beautiful places in Georgia, you should definitely see it. Here you will be impressed not only by the church, built of tufa of different colors, with the use of brick in some places, but also by the impressive landscape. On the west side of the church is the entrance, decorated in the form of an arched portal. Windows are on the north, south and east sides.
Above the church rises a bell tower in the middle of the west wall. The building is surrounded by eaves and covered with slate. Of course, the interior has been changed and the walls whitewashed, but the church also conveys the feel of the times when it was built. In the same village there is also another monument of culture of Georgia of X century - the Red Church of Tabatskuri.
The village of Tabatskuri impresses with its view, which combines unforgettable architecture, a blue lake, which is surrounded by pine-covered hills, and rocky mountains with snowy peaks. The village itself is only 60 kilometers from the municipality.
How to get there
It is easier to get there by car, because there are sections of dirt road from Akhalkalaki or Bakuriani. Keep in mind that in winter and early spring, this road is closed from Bakuriani. The road will take about 2 hours, because the way lies on a winding difficult road, between the mountain and the cliff.
To get there, you can also take a shuttle bus from Bakuriani, which costs 4 GEL (95 rubles). You must have a passport, because there will be a checkpoint on the way. Also for those who like real tourism, there are hiking tours through the mountains from Bakuriani to Tabatskuri.
