📖 History of the museum: from home to memorial center
The museum was founded in 1986 and is a branch of the Khonia Historical Museum. The main goal of the institution is to preserve and popularize the legacy of Polikarp Kakabadze.
🎭 The museum's collection includes 442 exhibits, including memorial items, manuscripts, publications, photographs and documentary materials telling about the life and work of the playwright.
🔨 In 2018, important restoration work was carried out to improve the condition of the building. As part of the project, the roof, floor, ceiling and electrical wiring were replaced, and the balconies were repaired. These works improved the conditions for the preservation of exhibits and a comfortable visit to the museum.
👤 Who is Polikarp Kakabadze?

Polikarp Malkhazovich Kakabadze (1895-1972) is a famous Georgian playwright, born on March 7, 1895 in the village of Kukhi. In 1911 he graduated from the Batumi Boys' Gymnasium. He began his creative career in 1918, showing himself to be a subtle psychologist and expert on peasant life.
Among his famous plays:
- "Three Maidens" is one of the first works reflecting the life of disadvantaged peasants.
- "Before Dawn" is a dramatic work about the fate of ordinary people.
- "Kvarkvare Tutaberi" is a satirical play staged in 1929 by Kote Marjanishvili, which brought the author wide fame.
