Day trip along the Eagle Valley of the Vashlovansky Nature Reserve in Kakheti. The length of the track route is 8 km.
While following the Eagle Valley route in Kakheti, you will have time to see the most beautiful places of Georgia and cultural and historical monuments - the fortress city of Hornabuji and the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah - the sights of Georgia.
If you have a choice of what to see in Georgia in one day, then visit the Vashlovani National Park. The sights of Georgia, and more specifically, the Vashlovansky Reserve, are forests on the shores of Alazani, Eagle Gorge and mud volcanoes with oil impurities of Takhti-Tepa. Several routes have been developed: hiking, horseback riding, cycling, there are safari tours. The trip to the Eagle Valley is one of the easiest and shortest.
To visit the park, you must register at the Visitor Center at the address: Dedoplistskaro, Baratashvili str., 5 (41.462499, 46.103949). The Center will tell you about the security measures and conditions for the passage of the route you have chosen. Entrance is paid.
Eagle Gorge – Khornabuji Fortress – Tezbiteli Temple
Easy combined route: by car and on foot, length – 8 km. Available at any time of the year, preferably in dry weather. It is preferable to drive an SUV. A supply of water and food is needed.
Artsivis Heoba – Eagle Valley
The route takes you to the base of limestone cliffs. Here you can see a combination of diverse vegetation and limestone rocks. During the flowering period, you can meet the Kakheti bluebell, a rare endemic growing almost without soil on a rock.
Then the path leads to the observation platforms. The views from here are gorgeous. You can watch the flight of vultures (9 species of birds of prey). Colchian pheasants, black storks and other birds live in these places.
Hornabuji Fortress City
The car stays on the plain, you climb the mountain on foot. A narrow path turns into a natural tunnel of plants, and suddenly on a steep cliff you see the ruins of a fortress of the 5th century.
During the construction, rock and masonry were combined, which looks impressive and organic. Fragments of the wall and towers, several other rooms have been preserved.
From the northern slope of the cliff, from the highest point of the fortress, there are beautiful views of the Alazani Valley and eastern Kavkasioni. I would like to say that these are the most beautiful places in Georgia.
Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah
Transfer to Mount St. Elijah, and again a hike, to the limestone Mount Elias, to the Church of St. Ilia (Tezbiteli) at an altitude of 45 m. The exact date of construction is unknown, some finds on the site of the temple belong to the 6th century by archaeologists.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the temple was destroyed, and restored in 2006-2008.
From the cliff near the temple you can see the Kotsakhuri ridge, the Tariban Valley, Lake Kochebi.

Про этот маршрут много, что читала, так горю желанием посетить, и везде написано брать с собой воду и еду. Читала одного путешественника, там написано, что поднимаясь к Крепости вспоминается хлебная лепешку с сыром свежеиспеченная)
