The monastery is located approximately five kilometers from Aspindza, in a small valley on the left bank of the Oti River. The valley is called Shindis-khevi, also known as Kizil-Deres. A stream flows through it, and the church itself stands on the right side of the valley.
The church dates back to the 7th-8th centuries. Today, it is a functioning convent dedicated to St. George.
