The Beridze Family House Museum is a collection set up in a lived in house and its yard. Inside are household objects, tools, documents and photographs gathered by the family over several generations. On the Tsalka plateau the way of life took shape from several traditions, and houses like this show that mixture better than any general description.
The house stands in Sabechisi, a village in the Tsalka municipality, on a plateau over a kilometre and a half high. Around it are open spaces, pastures and lakes, including the Tsalka reservoir. Winters here are long, and in summer the plateau is one of the coolest places near Tbilisi.
The yard is open through the day, but daylight and the warm season make more sense for the visit. Half an hour is enough. It is better to arrange the visit through the village in advance.
Tips
- Plan the trip for the warm season, the plateau is cold and snowy in winter
- Combine the visit with the Tsalka reservoir and Dashbashi
- Arrange the visit through the village in advance
How to get there
- From Tsalka along the local road, about twenty minutes by car
- Roughly two hours from Tbilisi via Manglisi and Tsalka
