Institute of Linguistics

Preservation and study of the native language is an important component of identification and belonging to one's own people.

The Chikobava Institute of Linguistics in Tbilisi, carrying out its professional activities, helps modern society to solve the most important task – the transfer of cultural values from one generation to another.

Philologists and experts of the Institute are engaged in the study of Georgian and other Caucasian languages, their lexical and grammatical structure, phonetics, etymology, speech culture, scientific terminology and other issues of linguistics.

Dictionaries, including translation dictionaries, are developed by the scientific staff of the Institute, monographic and popular scientific works are published.
