Rustaveli Holding Cinemas
- Description
In April 1999, in Tbilisi, Georgia, a group of young entrepreneurs founded the first ever modern Rustaveli cinema. This cinema was founded on the foundation of the old Soviet Rustaveli Cinema - located in the center, the key cinema of the Soviet Republic of Georgia.
A few years later, Rustaveli acquired Amirani (the second central cinema in Tbilisi). The development process included the acquisition of the Akhmeteli and Rustavi cinemas (in the city of Rustavi). In 2005, together with the fund of Cinema Rustaveli JSC, the group managed to purchase real estate on which cinemas operated — five buildings throughout Georgia. By 2008, Cinema Rustaveli owned and operated approximately 15,000 sq.m. of entertainment, dining and retail space.
In 2009, Rustaveli expanded the scope of production and founded Moving Pictures and On Screen Productions. Later, these companies merged into LightBank and formed the largest manufacturing company in the region.
