Darejan Palace (Sachino), Tbilisi, Georgia

Darejan Palace, also known as Sachino Palace, stands majestically on Urbnisi Street in Tbilisi, taking us into the history of Georgia. Built in 1776 for Queen Darejan, wife of Heraclius II, this architectural masterpiece was partially rebuilt in the 19th century, but has retained its majesty and attractiveness to this day.

In the 18th century, not only a palace was erected on the site of the ruins of the old castle, but also the Church of St. Heraclius and St. Darya. Over time, the church was transformed into the Transfiguration Monastery, becoming the center of the spiritual life of this place. After Queen Darejan moved to St. Petersburg, the palace and church were transferred to the Exarchate of Theophylact, who turned them into an educational center, including a seminary and parish schools.

The fate of this place did not remain unchanged during the communist regime. The monastery temporarily ceased its activities, and the buildings were used for various purposes, from a museum to warehouses. However, even in these difficult times, the architectural complex has retained its beauty and grandeur.

Today, Darejan Palace and its surroundings are a beautiful architectural complex, surrounded by a stone wall, which takes us into the depths of Georgian history.
