The church of St George stands in Didi Lilo, a settlement in the eastern part of Tbilisi. Its very name marks it as the lower one: the settlement has two churches of the same dedication, and residents tell them apart by location.
Didi Lilo stretches along the road to Sagarejo, with private houses, gardens and vineyards. From the church the streets climb towards the upper part of the settlement.
Visits are free and modest dress is appropriate for services. A headscarf is useful for women, and quiet is expected inside.
