The church stands at Gulkhandisi, the site of a deserted village in the south of Shida Kartli. Nasoplari in Georgian means a former village: the residents left long ago and the church remained.
The spot lies on remote uplands south of Gori, away from the roads: the nearest churches on the map are several kilometres off. Beyond the valleys to the north begin the villages of Tkhinala.
Access is free at any time, the roads are unpaved and soften in the rain. The walls and masonry deserve care: nothing is touched or taken away.
