At the top of Didi Abuli, also known as Big Abul, in Samtskhe-Javakheti, there is one of the most impressive places, offering breathtaking views of the entire Javakheti region.
The height of this mountain reaches 3305 meters above sea level. It consists predominantly of Neogene hyalodacites and is an extinct volcano. Due to its antiquity and height, the volcanic cone has changed its shape, acquiring a unique outline. On the slopes of Didi Abuli you can find traces of ancient glaciers that formed circuses with moraine ridges and small lakes. Most of the mountain is covered with alpine meadows, and there are also periglacial rocky and crushed stone landscapes.
