The garden is enriched with a collection of eighty species of flora, including delightful magnolias, majestic species of oak and cedar, as well as unique relict plants collected from all over the world.

This garden has witnessed centuries of history, having survived the changes and restorations begun by the last prince of Samegrelo and lovingly continued by his wife Catherine after his death. Destroyed by military actions and natural disasters, it was again revived from the ashes thanks to the tireless energy and efforts of Ekaterina Chavchavadze. Today, the Zugdidi Botanical Garden is a living open-air museum, showcasing the richness and diversity of subtropical flora.
