The church of St. Andrew the First-Called stands in Kvemo Marghi, at the western edge of Mestia municipality. In Georgian tradition the apostle Andrew is held to be the first preacher of Christianity in these lands.
The place is a remote one: Mestia is more than forty kilometres away, and the nearest neighbouring shrine, the church of St. George in Khaishi, stands eight kilometres off along the Enguri valley.
The road here runs along the Enguri and is unpaved in places, so a higher car is better and an early start is wise. Follow the coordinates.
