The church ruins at Jikhashkari lie on a high mountain about fifteen kilometres from Zugdidi. The church has no name of its own: it is known simply as the Jikhashkari church, after the village.
This was a hall building with a round apse, laid in courses of cobble, sandstone and local stone on lime mortar. There were two entrances, on the west and south.
Today only the east and south walls survive of the building. The main threat here is not time but vegetation: roots are prising the masonry apart from within, and without regular clearing the ruins will keep breaking down. Sources assign the church to the late Middle Ages.
