Tskalshuis Jvari means the cross between the waters: the shrine stands where mountain streams meet. Such places have long been revered in Khevsureti.
The place lies a kilometre and a half from the St George church in Akhieli. Open slopes and streams surround it: green in summer, under snow in winter.
Do not step past the shrine enclosure or touch the stones and offerings. View the place from aside and keep to the path.
