The old Lomisa church stands in Kvemo Mleta village. In Georgia the name Lomisa belongs above all to the revered shrine on the pass between the Aragvi and Ksani gorges, where pilgrims climb every summer for Lomisoba.
Kvemo Mleta lies on the Georgian Military Road, where the climb to Gudauri and the Cross Pass begins. The neighbours are scattered through the mountains: the Tsetskhlisjvari tower about two and a half kilometres away, the Ascension church at Ganisi four.
The place is busy by mountain standards: the road is close and it is easy to call in at any season, except on days when the pass is shut. The rules are the usual ones: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet, photography inside by permission.
