The church in the name of David the Builder stands at Didgori, near Zemo Nichbisi village. The name of the place is known across the country: it was here that David the Builder won the battle still remembered today.
Didgori lies on the western edge of Mtskheta Mtianeti, in the hills near the boundary with Shida Kartli. The road comes here from the highway linking Tbilisi and Gori, and the last climb opens a view over the surrounding ridges.
Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, and the church deserves careful treatment.
