An Orthodox village church. To whom the church is dedicated has not survived: only its type and confession are known, so we name no saint.
The village name does not read as Georgian: its root is Turkic, and that is a precise marker of Kvemo Kartli. Georgian and Azerbaijani communities have lived side by side here for centuries, and the map of the province is assembled from the toponyms of two languages at once. An Orthodox church in a village with such a name is not a paradox but the ordinary picture of these hills, where Gantiadi, Javakhi and Tnusi lie nearby. The century of building is not established.
The yard is open and the church can be approached on almost any day, though a priest is not permanently present. The usual rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet inside.
